American Idol Season 11 Episode 38: TOP 2 Results – 25th May 2012

Phillip Phillips - American Idol Season 11 ChampPhillip Phillips has been crowned the winner of American Idol Season 11 upsetting judge’s favorite Jessica Sanchez in the grand finale. But the heartthrob from Leesburg, Georgia was never the top contender for the title. Due to some reason the judges were overawed by Jessica and they had even said to her that she will win the final. Basically she was given a lifeline by the judges in the competition when she was voted out in the sixth week but the judges gave her a lifeline. Although her voice is truly great she does not have great stage presence to match it. Neither can she sing anything else apart from the ballads. A record 132 million votes were received but oddly Ryan Seacrest who likes to deal in percentages when the result is close did not mention them which makes one think that Phillip Phillips scored a landslide victory over Jessica.

American Idol Season 11 Episode 35: TOP 3 Performance – 17th May 2012

American Idol Episodes - Ledet PhilLast night was another American Idol performance show wherein the remaining top 3 idol contestants showcased their talent one last time before the finale. After 35 episodes and 8 months it finally came to this day when the final three will battle it out to remain in the competition. During these 8 months many a times they have gone to the brink of elimination and been pulled back on the basis of sheer talent and love from their legions of fans in America. For the one last show before the finale the three contestants, Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez brought their A game to the table and sang three songs. Out of the three one was a judge’s choice, the other by mentor Jimmy Lovine and the third was the contestant’s own choice. First up from the contestants was Joshua Ledet who started with, “I’d Rather Go Blind,” followed by , “ Imagine” and then he finished it off with , “No More Drama.” Steven said that is was another Joshua moment. After the second song Jennifer remarked that it was a pullback moment.  Joshua has been one of the top contenders for the title and seldom has he been faced with elimination. His high pitch singing has been complimented many a times by the judges who think he can win the competition on the basis of sheer talent alone.

American Idol Season 11 Episode 36: Elimination Night – 11th May 2012

American Idol Season 11 - Top 3The moment we all were waiting for; the judges decided, America voted and Ryan got the privilege to announce the first contestant to go home. It’s a moment of gasping, heart beats increasing (and perhaps some drum rolls if they suffice) as everyone waits. But we are kept in suspense, dang! We have to sit through a plastic of California Dreaming with all four contestants from the previous episode. Well you can understand the cold performance; they didn’t sing from their heart but from fear. Fear of being eliminated. And now for the results? Shoot! We still have to sit through a David Cook’s song (will the agony ever stop). No one really paid attention to the songs except for the ogling eyes that lingered around the J-LO’s sequined, figure hugging leotard with a lioness them hairstyle to match; a relief from the eyesore stage performance. How does a lady in her forties look that good? Well, I guess money buys happiness; sort of.

American Idol Season 11 Episode 35: TOP 3 Performance – 10th May 2012

American Idol Season 11 - Top 3Yet another night of performance as the Top 3 sing their heart out in two themes dubbed ‘California Dreaming’ and ‘Songs we wish we had written’. It was nice to see Joshua has come back to life in the group performance of the non themed California Dreaming. The drill came in when choosing a song they wish they had written and, on personal opinion, some went well while others not so well. We can recap the whole night by taking a genesis on the whole night of performance with the four contestants fighting for the top 3 spot. For Phillip Phillips, or Double P, perhaps being named twice was an allusion to double luck this time. His ‘Have you ever seen the rain?’ rendition sounded way better than what this budding country boy gave us last week. And needless to say, Phillips has an amazing voice and a unique style; perhaps that would get him one of the top 3 spots so to speak.
