What a night it was. At the end of the show there were only two contestants standing in the center of the stage. American idol season 11 has reached a stage where it is a battle between the two best singers remaining in the competition. American Idol Season 11 Episode 36 delivered what it promised. It was a night filled with excitement and nervousness for the audience and joy and disappointment for the contestants. One contestant from the final three walked away being eliminated from the competition. After 35 episodes staying in the competition, the time had come for one of the top three to bid goodbye. The results were based on the previous night’s performances. And if the performances were any indication, all three had an equal chance of going through to the finals. But the nature of the competition is such that one had to leave the fray at this stage.
For the last time all three contestants got an opportunity to sing together on stage and they didn’t disappoint. The finalists started with one of the Beatle’s songs, “Got To Get You in My Life.” After the song, Ryan asked how they were feeling. Jessica admitted she was excited, Phillip Phillips thought it was a blessing and Joshua confessed he was nervous.
On the guest performance front there were two celebrity performers, ‘Rock Royalty,’ Lisa Marie Presley and American Idol’s season 8 runner up Adam Lambert.
First up the judges called Joshua to the center of the stage. Jimmy remarked that Joshua had a good night last night but not a great night. The judges were kind to give Joshua an 8 for the first song. He definitely did not deserve a standing ovation because he had set pretty high standards for himself throughout the competition. Ryan remarked that something was missing from Joshua’s performances however no results declared yet.
Next Ryan played a video where the top 4 idol contestants visited “Ice Age-Continental Drift” recording studio and tried to record “Ice Age.”
After Joshua’s renditions, Lisa performed her newest single, “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet” which reminded the audience of her famous father.
Jessica Sanchez is called next onto the stage. Jimmy remarked that Jessica’s song last night, My All” did not make a huge impression on the judges however her second song brought her back in contention when everything got going for her and her final rendition was clearly the best of the lot when she reminded the audience of a young Michael Jackson.
Adam Lambert was the second guest performer of the night and he didn’t disappoint his loyal fans. His song, “Never Close Our Eyes,” was catchy and set the mood for the final contestant’s performances.
For the last contestant Phillip Phillips Jimmy said that, “Beggin was great job and his voice sounded more and more original, his second song was a bit off but he won the night with his last song.
The results followed and Jessica walked through to the finals which meant it was a face- off between Joshua and Phillips and Joshua was voted out of the completion! It is heartbreak for Joshua and his fans and ecstasy for Phillips and his band of supporters. So it is Jessica Sanchez versus Phillip Phillips as the competition heads for a thrilling climax!
