American Idol Season 10 Episode 34 : 12th May 2011 (TOP 4 / Song from Leiber and Stoller Songbook)

American Idol Season 10 Episode 34 : Tonight, these Top 4 finalists will be performing songs from centuries old and bring it to life in a million audience, their own way and pretend to be original. Otherwise the judges will simply say, “you didn’t bring anything new into it”, “it’s too safe”, etc. This is also a very important night for the contestants since they are too close yet too far! Losing in this round tomorrow night is like catching a meteor in your handkerchief, I mean literally! Remember this: No Homecoming Party for the losers! Fans should vote for their favorite if they want that boy/girl to do the parade in the streets. One more thing, Lady Gaga is the guest mentor for tonight. I’ve no idea what kind of advice she’ll be giving to these kids. Maybe dressing like an idiot or whatever and Gaga mentoring the four contestants to sing songs written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller is like a big opposite happening, but we’ll see…

ROUND ONE (American Idol Season 10 / Top 4)

James Durbin – Don’t Stop Believing (American Idol Season 10)

Coming out first and singing “Don’t Stop Believin” is no other than James Durbin. Last week, he did came out first too and didn’t do well on it – but that’s last week. Tonight, he’s nailing it and it’s really a good song choice.

Haley Reinhart – Earth Song (American Idol Season 10)

Next up is Haley Reinhart singing Michael Jackson’s “The Earth Song”. All of a sudden, the choir came out while Haley is busy singing about pollution and dying children – maybe that’s what the Earth song is all about! And check this out for a comment, coming from Jennifer Lopez saying that her song choice wasn’t as popular as James Durbin but what the hell, what is really so popular about this theme?!? I don’t even have any idea who is Leiber and Stoller is but thanks wikipedia! Our boy Casey Abrams is down there watching/clapping for Haley but of course, that doesn’t automatically make her a winner, so…

Scotty Mccreery – Where Were You (American Idol Season 10)

Scotty McCreery came out different tonight. He’s coming out with a guitar and pardon my ignorance but I haven’t seen him with a guitar. All I see is that he’s only holding a microphone, making funny faces in front of the camera, and sounded like he’s chewing a gum while singing. What about tonight?? Oh, he’s singing an Alan Jackson song “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning” – a song about 9/11 attack. I’m telling you, this performance was so good. It chills my spine once again! Nevermind the bubble gum chewing but that deep baritone surely nails it!

.

The fourth and last one (obviously, it’s the TOP 4) to perform is Lauren Alaina and like what I’m already expecting, she’ll pick another big song wearing a big dress and sing it with her own little voice. This time it’s Martina McBride and… well, I admit, it was darn good! I didn’t expect Lauren to sound this confident and for a Martina McBride song, I’m really surprised!

.

ROUND TWO (American Idol Season 10 / Top 4)

Haley Reinhart – I Who Have Nothing (American Idol Season 10)

Haley Reinhart came out first in this 2nd round and she’s singing “I Who Have Nothing”. This performance is awesome but all the highlights doesn’t end up on Haley because she’s singing it so good. In case you still don’t know, Lady Gaga is the guest mentor this week so expect nothing but crazy dress codes and stupid dramas! Haley… well, she looks like a watered down Lady Gaga so to speak! But like what is being said, Haley nailed the song. Steven Tyler, being so kind, said something like this: “you just Reinharted yourself into the middle of next week” and our boy Casey Abrams is down there in the audience, triumphant!

Scotty McCreery – Young Blood (American Idol Season 10)

Scotty McCreery is back and is doing his own rendition of The Coasters “Young Blood”. Once again, that Scotty McCreery trademark is back and no I’m not talking about the deep baritone voice. I’m talking about his antics. Like making funny faces, staring to the camera and look stupid in your TV screen. Oh yes, Scotty knows how to play the game. Blinking and smiling to the camera is knocking all the teens at home watching TV so close. Making them feel Scotty is kissing them. Nice trick but this performance is so weak making him score a 1-0.

.

Lauren Alaina came out singing “Trouble” by Elvis Presley. Once again, like Haley, Lauren came out on stage looking crazy just like her mentor! Again, just like Scotty, she’s stronger on round one and goes weak on round two. Nothing special, nothing memorable. To quote Simon, “forgettable”!

.

James Durbin is the last one to sing and boy what a letdown!? What’s happening to this guy? In every 2nd round he went nuts. Last week he’s on a drama like not singing anymore but crying! Tonight, he’s asking the audience for an applause, haha, what is this?! He even looked very surprised when he later found out that the judges weren’t up on their feet for a standing ovation. Are you kidding me?!! This performance consists of all the typical James Durbin antics we all know, but that’s it. This performance is so unexpectedly weak and to rank it, it looks like that James didn’t score at all – yeah, both rounds!

.

So that’s it for your TOP 4 performance (American Idol Season 10). Remember, all your votes tonight goes to your favorite that you want to do a parade in your hometown. If that’s important to you, then your favorite need you more than ever. Otherwise, he/she could be the biggest loser tomorrow night. I’m certain that there’s going to be a shocker tomorrow night. Seacrest even reminds the audience that this is the week when Chris Daughtry went home. Oh, well… I think that Chris thanked them for cutting him early and let Taylor Hicks won that Season! Wow, that was fun!
