American Idol Season 10 Episode 31 : Tonight, American Idol Season 10′s Top 5 finalists will be competing to win your votes. Singing ‘Songs from Now and Then’. Sounds exciting, specially that in tonight’s episode, we are expecting tremendous train wrecks! First, it was already reported that each of these contestants will be singing two songs. One coming from the 60′s and one from any recent hits of today. Singing songs from the 60s alone will already guarantee a huge mess from this 10th Season’s finalists but I still hope that no one chooses a Justin Bieber song! Boy, I’ve no idea why is that kid so famous singing such plastic music! Having said that, I also don’t have any idea why is Jacob Lusk still in the show?!?!! But yes Jacob, I’ll vote for you to get rid of the ever boring Lauren Alaina tomorrow night, lol! Maybe she’s singing Justin Bieber tonight since she already did Miley Cyrus last couple of weeks – how’s that sound? Live Blogging : Songs from Today & Yesterday (American Idol Season 10)
In this episode, Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow is mentoring your Top 5 Finalists (Jimmy Iovine is still there, of course). Seacrest is telling America that tonight’s episode is “one of the most important nights of the season” because Randy Jackson will be declaring “who is in it to win it”, so…
James Durbin – Closer To The Edge (30 Seconds To Mars)
Coming out first is JAMES DURBIN and he’s singing a song by Thirty Seconds to Mars. Durbin came out on stage looking exhausted and tired walking through the crowd wearing a traditional leather vest! Once again, Durbin delivers a good performance but it wasn’t the best. Sounds like it was forced, or maybe like he’s doing it because he’s a contestant, yeah right, but no enthusiasm and excitement in this performance.
Jacob Lusk – No Air (Jordin Sparks)
Next up is JACOB LUSK! I’m telling you, not only that Jacob delivers the first disaster for tonight, he also delivers a hilarious performance! What do you know, Jacob is singing “No Air” by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown – I think this song is a duet, but hey Jacob can do both! Haha! The lower register is simply hideous, but what do you expect? It’s Jacob Lusk! And the judges… well, I don’t think I still care about what these three sitting folks going to say!
Lauren Alaina – Til The Damage Is Done (Carrie Underwood)
The ever boring LAUREN ALAINA took the stage and she’s actually said to be a combination of Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson!!! Are you kidding me?! I think that’s one hell of a compliment but guess what, tonight, she’s not singing Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber! She’s singing a Carrie Underwood song “Flat On the Floor”… it actually sounded pretty good. Very nice! I think I like that! And oh, she’s looking very pretty tonight too, blah!
Scotty McCreery – Gone (Montgomery Gentry)
SCOTTY McCREERY gets a new name from Seacrest, like calling him “Scotty the Body”, what’s up with that? The deep and chilling baritone that is Scotty McCreery went soaring high and wow, listening to this performance makes me really feel good. It was so great it made me smile, heh! The judges, despite of them always praising the contestants, were also nailed hard by Scotty. Jennifer Lopez is losing it and said something like “that is some American Idol stuff right there.” Of course, that’s is one good performance, so chill!
Haley Reinhart – You And I (Lady Gaga)
HALEY REINHART is the last contestants to perform “Today’s Hits” and she picked up a Lady Gaga song! Too bad, it’s an unreleased Lady Gaga song so she is simply pulling the cloud of doom to hover on her while singing that song nobody heard of (except for Jimmy Iovine maybe). She even started the fire looking really stupid! I mean lying on the stairs like a mermaid (not new on Idol, by the way), holding the mic and seducing the audience! Wow Haley, haha! I think it happens in a wrong time. With Scotty blowing away the audience, that odd song choice is just wrong for her! Welcome to the death slot!
James Durbin – Without You (Harry Nillson)
Round two is up and this time it’s like going back to yesterday! JAMES DURBIN coming out first once again and the impression on him looking tired remains the same. Good song choice, good performance, good singing, but is he in it to win it? This is not the right time to get tired James, you might be packing your ass off doing both of these pretty lame and safe song choices. Well, the judges keeps on praising James, so why not…
Jacob Lusk – Love Hurts (Nazareth)
JACOB LUSK is next and he’s murdering one of my favorite songs, I can’t believe it! Love Hurts!! The pitch issues will never go away with this guy, and funny thing because I am thrilled listening and watching that harpist play than listening to Jacob Lusk.
Lauren Alaina – Unchained Melody (Leann Rimes)
LAUREN ALAINA is doing “Unchained Melody”. Her performance made me recall Simon Cowell! I remember Simon really like this song, even his favorite, and with all the judges kissing asses and giving praises on a bad performance – how can you forget Cowell?! Anyways, getting back to Lauren, she’s like making her way back to the scene. The performance is once again great. Lauren gets a high score for each round tonight. She’s even making Randy Jackson babble like a madman. Well, he always talk like that, so…
Scotty McCreery – You Were Always On My Mind (Willie Nelson)
SCOTTY McCREERY took the stage and blows the audience for the second time! This guy is “in it to win it”. Singing Elvis Presley, Scotty just did two great performance (if not outstanding) in one night. All the others looks pale in comparison, too bad I actually don’t like saying that!
Haley Reinhart – House Of The Rising Sun (Animals)
HALEY REINHART singing a song that I think is tailor made for her: “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. This performance redeems Haley (actually, the first performance is not that bad) and puts her back on the map. The stage presence is awesome. The smoke, the voice. I think everything in this rendition was pretty solid! Best Haley Reinhart performance I’ve ever seen. Even the judges are off in their seats. Giving her a standing ovation. Is it that amazing? Yes!
So there you have it America! Songs from Yesterday and Today. Each of the contestants scored once, others scored twice, and others just didn’t get a score at all. Tomorrow night, who’s going home? I am guessing it’ll be a shocker, but we’ll let’s wait and see…
