American Idol Season 10 Episode 26 : Pia Toscano is out, getting eliminated in the 9th place might not be right to some people (specially her fans) but the show goes on and if you don’t mind, there are still 6 guys left to keep our teens and mid-aged hot mommas grab their phones and fire up a hundred of votes in seconds. 2 Girls left standing, that is Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart. No one knows the fate of these girls tomorrow night but tonight, these 8 remaining hopefuls will be singing songs coming from the movies. It’s “Songs from the Movies” week on American Idol and you know what to expect. Same old songs done over and over again. Only this time, new people and new trainwreck coming your way. Who’s nay and who’s yay, let’s find out…
First up is Paul McDonald and he’s singing “Old Time Rock and Roll” from the movie Risky Business. This sounds like a little risky because Paul might be good in swaying himself like a lunatic but the singing is literally nowhere to be found in this performance. Good thing there’s a saxophone player in there for a relief. The judges were no longer judging the singing, they want to play along with the audience and giving praises on such a bad performance, haha! Even Steven Tyler wants to borrow Paul’s suit, yeah right…
Lauren Alaina took the stage and performed a cheesy song right for her age, “The Climb” from The Hannah Montana Movie. Lauren almost did nothing on the song but singing it just the way it is. It’s a safe choice and it almost sounded like Miley Cyrus. Now I don’t know if that is a compliment or what but the performance is great ‘though. I just don’t think it’ll really stand out after the show.
Stefano Langone is singing a song called “End of the Road” from Boomerang. This guy is really in to win it, or just stay longer in the show. Looking good, singing good, and even Randy Jackson says it is good. Stefano on the other hand, is doing his best to keep himself on the show. I think it’s a good performance but then again, Pia Toscano’s fans might still be hating this guy, so…
Scotty McCreery is giving another effortless good performance for tonight. Singing a George Strait song from Pure Country and nails it again. The only effort I’ve seen in this performance is the way this guy holds his microphone and the glance to the camera every once in awhile. Sure, girls at home really love that and the performance is really solid. Scotty just locked himself to safety with it, but you never know…
Casey Abrams is singing “Nature Boy” by Nat King Cole. I must say that I am not really digging this guy anymore, but he’s having a good time tonight. Maybe it’ll change my mind, or?. He’s jazzy and minimalistic and that seems to work for this night’s performance. Nothing more to say, I am sure that Casey is already having his own fanbase as we speak, so…
Haley Reinhart is cranking a Blondie song, “Call Me” from American Gigolo. It’s a good performance but at least not the best of the night. The good and bad moments were equal and hey, a critic coming from the judges? I thought all they do is praised the contestants tonight. Randy Jackson think it was not a good song choice for her. Steven Tyler keeps on praising Haley’s dress! Too bad, but he is no doubt to be the Paula Abdul of this panel!!
Jacob Lusk wants to be the next Pia Toscano. For the heads up, Jacob hugs Pia at the end of the show last week, so maybe this is it! Singing a big song and even bigger than those done by Pia. This time it’s “Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water”, blah! I don’t know if I really like that, maybe I should look myself in the mirror after saying this!
James Durbin is closing the show and he found himself a guitar player (ie: Zakk Wylde). This time it is more about the guitar player than James singing. Yeah, forget James. Zakk Wylde is better! I wish James is the one doing that guitar solo to make it more credible. This seems like an over the top performance coming from James Durbin. The high pitch screaming and the spine breaking non-sense might really appeal to some – but it is for sure a great performance.
