American Idol Season 10 Episode 22 Tonight, it’s like a second life for Casey Abrams! So if the results tomorrow night will take him down again then that’s final! Tonight, on the other hand, these Top 11 hopefuls will be singing Elton John songs!!! How ironic?! That guy said something funny (a couple of months ago) regarding this show but let’s not go deeper with that! From the look of things, this will be a real boring night. I mean, Elton John songs! If these people seeks what they call diversity, then those one dimensional contestants were all in trouble now. I’ve already heard about this theme (spoiler) last week and I’ve no idea if what will Pia Toscano sing! Maybe she’ll repeat herself this time around because I think she likes doing that over and over again! Whatever will happen tonight, let’s find out…
First off, Randy Jackson maybe wants to be the new Simon Cowell. Not only him being ‘brutally honest’ in this season but the guy started wearing plain shirt in the show too! Jennifer Lopez is really gorgeous tonight, and Steven Tyler… wow, this man just keep on getting better with age! I don’t know, but something’s wrong with Seacrest’s hair…
AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 10 TOP 11 (again) SETLIST
SCOTTY McCREERY – “Country Comforts”
NAIMA ADEDAPO – “I’m Still Standing”
PAUL McDONALD – “Rocket Man”
PIA TOSCANO – “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”
STEFANO LANGONE – “Tiny Dancer”
LAUREN ALAINA – “Candle in the Wind”
JAMES DURBIN – “Saturday Night’s Alright”
THIA MEGIA Fansite – “Daniel”
CASEY ABRAMS – “Your Song”
JACOB LUSK – “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”
HALEY REINHART – “Bennie and the Jets”
With regards to SCOTTY McCREERY, I think that the judges were always nice to him. The performance is okay, but I don’t know, I think I want to puke hearing that kind of “deep husky voice” everytime he sings. Oh, maybe I am not a fan of Country music in the first place so what do I know.
Next up is this Season’s weirdest contestant, now I don’t know if I like calling her weird, but hey… NAIMA ADEDAPO dances like a lunatic last week and tonight, she’s adding superfluous Reggae twist to an Elton John classic “I’m Still Standing”. I didn’t like it myself and so are the judges except for the Rock N Roll legend who’s been praising Naima for her song choices. I wonder what will Elton John say about this too, lol.
PAUL McDONALD rocks the stage with a song that’s no longer new to him, “Rocket Man”. Paul performed this song with his band, but admitted it was crap back then. The performance is good but the floral jacket is horrible. Steven Tyler, being a fashion icon himself, can’t help but asked: “Lemme ask you have you been watering that suit?”
PIA TOSCANO sings another ballad and it’s called “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”, duh! Of course, Pia Toscano is one hell of a great singer and the glory notes came dazzling once again. She’s been singing it so good that I almost forget I don’t want her to sing ballads anymore, but hey… maybe it’s about time for an uptempo next week?
STEFANO LANGONE is the kind of guy who always hangs out in the bottom three but always end up being safe! Tonight he’s doing “Tiny Dancer” and took Jennifer Lopez’s advice that he should connect with the audience when he sing and he really did. However though, except for his good looks, there’s just nothing so special with his performance again, so I don’t know…
Being showered by praises, LAUREN ALAINA is finally getting a hang of herself in this point of the competition. “Candle in the Wind” is simply tailor made for this kind of voice and Steven Tyler got something to say, “you know I’ve loved you since the first moment you laid eyes on me…you keep singing like that and you’ll be able to afford the rest of that dress.”
Rock N Roll started flaming when JAMES DURBIN took the stage. He’s singing “Saturday Night’s Alright” and he’s really having fun up there, or down there! He’s been going up and down and mingle with the audience, well, it was too lively and at the same time it was a bit gimmicky for me! Oh, no idea how Steven Tyler feels about it but he drops a comment like “don’t be up there too long”. I’ve no idea what the hell’s that suppose to mean but that’s it!
THIA MEGIA is singing “Daniel” and for some unknown reason, she already reminds me of Ramiel Malubay. Thia and Pia Toscano were almost floating in the same boat, only this time for Thia – she doesn’t have the glory notes to begin with, blah! Singing this song is so lifeless and it’s obvious that the girl likes playing it safe and don’t want to take any risk at all.
CASEY ABRAMS is singing “Your Song” and eventhough that it sounded good done the Casey Abrams way, it was still one hell of a safe and lifeless song being performed by a contestant – just like Thia Megia! I think this song exclusively belongs to Elton John and no one out there can do it right!
JACOB LUSK, is one of those contestants that I really don’t give a rat’s arse to, is singing “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”. Wow, the first time I heard this guy singing ‘God Bless the Child’ turns me really off and I mean literally turning the volume off! Still no idea why people dig so much vibrato in a voice! That’s like listening to a guitar solo with too many divebombs or wah-wahs! Now get over it, I can’t see this guy being eliminated this early anyway, so…
If there’s one contestant ready to redeem him/herself tonight, then that’s got to be HALEY REINHART. I think she’s very underrated! The girl got some good raspy voice and singing “Bennie and the Jets” is just a perfect choice! I hope she’ll be getting the attention she deserves and make people focus on her instead of lifeless singers in this 10th Season and I’m not naming names, hah! Even the new Simon Cowell, ie: Randy Jackson, called it as the best performance of the night.
BEST OF THE NIGHT: JAMES DURBIN (again for the guys) / HALEY REINHART (girls)
